Featured Artist: Yvonne Studevan
Yvonne Studevan hails from Yeadon, Pennsylvania presently living in Athens, GA. As a young child, Yvonne began to develop her artistic talents by attending Saturday art classes at Fleishers Art School in Philadelphia, participating in local art contests, and receiving instruction at school. She also learned her skills from family members, and local area artists. As an adult she continued to pursue and fulfill her need to create art by attending classes and workshops in Hawaii and Japan, as well as the University of Georgia Continuing Education Program, The Lyndon House Art Center, Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation and by apprenticing under Abner Cope, portrait artist. By becoming actively involved in the art community, Yvonne’s skills and knowledge of art have continued to develop. She prefers working in oils but enjoys oil pastel, pastel, pencil and charcoal.
Art is a legacy and has always been a part of her life. Yvonne’s artwork depicts scenes from nature and people going about their daily living. You can see aspects of her life expressed through her art from home decorating and yard art, to table settings and portraits. Her artistic creations are inspired by people, surroundings, history, travels, and events of her life.
Taking on new challenges motivates Yvonne to explore and create with a variety of mediums. She has recently taken on the challenge of designing an historic steel bus shelter for Athens Clarke County, children’s wall murals and portrait painting. Her website is www.artbyyvonnestudevan.com
